Frequently Asked Questions

Deposits

When making a tattoo appointment, a deposit must be made in order to hold and finalize a tattoo appointment.  The deposit amount goes towards the cost of your tattoo. In some circumstances the deposit will be applied to the cost of the final tattoo session. In other circumstances, a deposit will be taken for each session and applied to that session only. Deposits amounts are up to the artist you're working with, but typically range from $150 for smaller pieces to $200+ for larger ones. Deposits can be made in person or online through that artist's booking site. We accept cash or credit cards (no checks).

Deposits are non-refundable, no exceptions. They are transferable up to 2 times if you need to reschedule, which you can do with at least 48 hours notice before your appointment. Cancelling or rescheduling within 48 hours will result in a loss of that deposit and another must be made upon rescheduling. Deposits cannot be transferred to another person’s tattoo or or be used with another artist.

Consultations

Give us a call, send us an email, or simply come by. Together, we'll figure out who best suits your style and time frame. Some consultations are done in person and some over email, depending on the artist's preference. Aside from the deposit you put down to hold the appointment, consultations are completely free. Bring reference images from any books, posters, magazines, or internet printouts that you think might help best convey your ideas to your artist. We'll talk it over, take pictures if it's to be an addition or cover-up, or trace the area if it's a larger piece.

Once you've set up an appointment and left a deposit, we'll start drawing. Usually we will have the drawing ready to show you at the time of the tattoo appointment, but if you feel you NEED to see the drawing ahead of time make sure you work that out with your artist. Drawings to be viewed ahead of time can be shown in person at the shop, or on some occasions via email. Drawings can be adjusted until you're happy with what you're getting.

Thank you so much and we hope you have a great experience with us! If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Cost

Size, location on the body, level of detail, and color all factor in to the price. Everything starts at the shop minimum, which is $150 ($180 for hands, feet, neck, and online bookings with Poohki) and goes up from there depending on how long it takes. Smaller pieces are quoted by the piece, while multiple-session pieces are usually by the hour/session. Prices are $150 - $180/hr. If you have a budget in mind let us know and we can always work with you.

What to bring

First, you need to bring a government or state-issued photo ID and MUST be at least 18 years of age (MN law). Drivers licenses, Military IDs and passports are okay… school IDs and birth certificates are not.

Next, make sure you're feeling good and comfortable. Exercise proper hygiene, be hydrated, and well-fed. Eat a meal before hand and bring something to sip on; carbs, juices, and sodas are good since they keep your blood sugar up and prevent you from getting light headed. Also, try to get a good night sleep the night before. The better you feel going into your tattoo the easier the process and healing will go for you.

You may bring your friends or family with you for support, but please note we only allow 1 person other than yourself with you in the room while you are being tattooed. This is to minimize distraction for the artist. Also, please do not have loud, animated phone

conversations or yell. Please be considerate of others and your surroundings.

Last, bring a positive attitude. Your artist knows what he/she is doing. Please don't complicate things further by micro-managing every detail. If we say it won't work, chances are it won't work. If we say it's too small, then that's exactly what it is. ABOVE ALL, we want you to have a wonderful experience and we want your tattoo looking it's best not just for now, but for many years to come.

What to wear

Wear whatever you are comfortable with, as long as the area on and around your tattoo is easily accessible. We have curtains and screens if you need them and we will try to make it as comfortable for you as we can. It's cool to be shy and just as cool to let it all hang out. We don't care either way, we’re trying make pretty pictures.

Tipping

Tipping is never expected, but always appreciated. If you feel the artist did an awesome job, spent a lot of time working out your ideas, went above and beyond your expectations, or you simply had a good time then by all means tip! As far as what amount you should tip, that is entirely up to you.
